On Friday, December 16, over 40 volunteers from the Behr Corporation came to Roosevelt and helped us establish two brand-new "Maker Space" labs on our campus. These labs will be a place for students to focus on engineering and design. They will be places to foster creativity and the application of ideas. As a STEAM school, Roosevelt's Maker Space labs are innovative and important parts of the elementary education program. Come by to check them out!
SAUSD and the City of Santa Ana are partnering on another joint-use project that will benefit students attending Roosevelt and Walker elementary schools and Santa Ana community members. With an anticipated completion date of December 2017, a new Community Center will be built on the corner of Standard and Chestnut Avenue with easy access from both schools. It will have a total of 8 joint-use classrooms and other program areas that will be jointly shared by the School and the City. Portions of the facility will be opened during the school hours and operated by the City to offer self-enrichment classes to community members and the public. Other areas will be open after school hours and on the weekends.
Mark your calendars in advance for Sunday, June 4th, 2017. The Annual Roosevelt Community Car Show will be returning to our school. This will be the ninth show featuring custom, classic and cool vehicles. The event will feature food, entertainment and a trophy presentation for various vehicle and bicycle categories. Stay tuned for more info...
Welcome to Roosevelt Elementary School
As I begin my second school year as Principal of Roosevelt Elementary School, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of our children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. By addressing school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, increased academic expectations for all students and engaging the community, it is our goal at Roosevelt Elementary that all students become college or career ready.
On behalf of the staff at Roosevelt Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2016-17 school year. We hope you and your family have had a safe and enjoyable summer. Our first day of school for students will be August 24, 2016.
I am looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure that your children can achieve to their highest potential. As partners, we share the responsibility for our children’s success and want you to know that we always put children first.
I ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
*Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience in its entirety
*Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
*Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
*Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of their school life
*Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
I am looking forward to continue working with our community on behalf of all students. If you would like to contact me, my e-mail is Jaime.Ramirez@sausd.us You can also reach me by phone @ (714)-564-1200.
