Welcome to McFadden Intermediate School! We are extremely excited to be celebrating 50 years of excellence. The faculty and staff join me in saying that we are glad to have you as part of the McFadden family. During the 2014-2015 school year, we look forward to a cooperative and committed home-school partnership. Parent involvement is encouraged and welcomed at McFadden Intermediate School. We take our responsibility for setting a strong foundation for each student seriously and will strive to make their learning experience this year engaging and purposeful.
This school year we are charged with implementing Common Core State Standards with a rigorous set of guidelines for the English Language Arts and Mathematics curriculum. Our efforts in "Designing 21st Century Learning" are to help students across our school meet the rising demands of the 21st century global marketplace.
Our teachers and staff have been expanding their knowledge and skills through training and professional development in order to properly instruct our students. The curriculum and experiences in your child's classes may look and feel different than that in years past; their learning and achievement will be at a deeper level. Students will make stronger connections between classroom knowledge and real-world applications. In turn, students will promote to high school truly college and career ready, and, in so doing, will widen the scope of opportunities available to them.
All SCOTS are encouraged to participate in a wide range of
challenging and rigorous courses in preparation for college and career. We
offer many elective courses that meet the needs of our students such as AVID,
Honors, Visual and Performing Arts, STEM, Dual Language, and research-based reading intervention
programs. Outside the classroom, our students enjoy participating in the
tutorial, sports, and academic clubs such as Think Together, ASB, PALS, Drawing and more. We are continuing to integrate PBIS across the campus which is based on positive behavior interventions. Our theme for the school year is “RESPECT”. Go SCOTS! Dream! Dare! Do!
